A musical caravan full of treasures and surprises, The Rio Samaya Band presents original songs in a magical combination of Latin, Reggae and rumba. Rio Samaya tours the world as a duo and has collaborated with incredibly talented musicians in Beijing, Tunisia, Montreal, Newfoundland, and every day in their hometown, Vancouver. Pancho, born in Argentina, is a songwriter who learned rumbas and flamenco playing with Gypsies in the south of France. His versatile guitar and flute talents lead to improvisation on stage. Sal completes the music with vocals, accordion, shakers, chachas, and bombo. In Tofino, they will be joined by the amazing guitar player Serge Gamache from Montreal, and Craig Trudeau on bass, with his daughter, “Ja” on the saw, percussion and performing dance moves that mix flamenco, jazz, and acro.

Formed in the spring of 2008, Quoia {Kwoi - a} is a collective of musicians currently residing on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Known for their high-energy liveshow and uplifting grooves, this genre-hopping group is swiftly attracting new fans of all ages. Quioa is quite thrilled to have two songs used in an internationally distributed surf film and are also proud of the major role they played in producing the highly successful Tall Tree Music Festival in Port Renfrew, b.c.
Now nearing the completion of their second release, their future plans are simple. Continue to grow, and to fully enjoy themselves along the way! Quoia is made up of multi-instrumentalists Alex Nicholls, Mike Hann, Mike Roma, and Keith Gallant.

Marimba Muzuva’s happy and hypnotic music has been a crowd-pleaser going on two decades now. Since that time the band has carved a prominent name for itself in the West Coast folk and world music scene by consistently getting audiences up on their feet to dance at thousands of performances throughout B.C. and beyond. The music has a power all its own: it is vibrant, and interactive, percussive and melodic. It brings people together and puts a smile on every face. Hearing marimba music for the first time at a folk festival inspired Marimba Muzuva’s founding members to research and build their own marimbas, becoming the first Canadian group to play Zimbabwean style music. Armed with 4-turntables and the unique ability to create live mashups and remixes, their DJ sets stand out. Seamlessly blending original productions with everything from HipHop to Funk, Disco to House, Dubstep to DnB and everything in between, The Funk Hunters create original sets never replicated. It’s not uncommon to find this duo headlining an all bass music festival one night and then performing a funk, soul, or boogie set the next. In just a few short years, The Funk Hunters have built an international following, releasing music on labels around the globe and showcasing their signature high-energy DJ sets at some of the world’s most popular music festivals and clubs.
