Juno award winning Bedouin Soundclash has emerged as a young group refusing to be classified, while blurring the lines of reggae and rock. Jay Malinowski’s soulful wail and rasp rests on Eon Sinclair’s deep dubbing bass while Sekou Lumumba drives a heavy rhythm, blazing their own path in the musical landscape. Unlike most musicians who try to mimic their musical idols, Bedouin Soundclash forges their own musical path creating music embodying each member’s personal musical preferences, creating an innovative fusion of Reggae, Rock, Punk and Soul. Tofino box copies and pastes! Bedouin Soundclash hit radio and video stations across Canada with the single “When The Night Feels My Song” from their album Sounding A Mosaic.

West Coast Winter Music Series concert

Sharon Stanis on violin, Jamie Syer on piano and Paula Kiffner on violincello perform Hayden, Prokofiev and Brahms. These three musicians bring a world of talent and experience to the stage.

Sharon Stanis has a multi-faceted career as a chamber musician, soloist, and educator. As a co-founder of the Lafayette String Quartet, she has toured extensively in North America and Europe. Ms. Stanis has appeared as soloist with the Victoria Symphony and the Palm Court Orchestra; and has served as concertmaster of the Victoria Symphony in the Summer Festival Series.

Dr. Jamie Syer is Dean of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and the Artistic Director of the Conservatory’s Collegium Program for Young Musicians. He is Artistic co-Director of the Alberta summer music workshop “Strings & Keys”. Dr. Syer is known for his imaginative recital programming, and his artistic, energetic playing.

Paula Kiffner is a faculty member of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and the Nanaimo Conservatory. A former member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Kiffner has also performed as guest principal cellist of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and appears frequently as a recitalist and concerto soloist throughout the Pacific Northwest.
