Prepare yourself for the thunderous sounds of Haggatha, Weapon, and local duo Chainsawkickboxing. This is the Maq’s heaviest show to date, possibly Tofino’s. These bands are sure to deliver explosions of sludgy tone from the depths of East Vancouver.

Weapon are as heavy as a band can get, with a sound nearing the Melvins and Crowbar while Haggatha truly and simply sounds like pure evil. Seriously, they're kind of scary. .

Best know for his work with Cadence Weapon, Sole, and Raekwon Dj Weezl will be making a special stop at the Maquinna from his Canadian tour. If you were lucky enough to catch a closing set from him after the Rat Tail show in July, you know what you’re in for. Otherwise this is your chance to see one of Canada’s most talented scratch djs, a veteran finally taking his place in the ranks of North America’s best. Weezl is DMC Champ of Edmonton and has played live on MTV, BBC, Much Music, Lollapalooza, Pitch Fork, Glastonbury, Rifflandia, Sled Island and many more.

Both are touring in support of their second full length albums: Jon McPhail and his Family Band for ‘Hummmmmm’ and ‘Catcher’, Feed The Birds’ up­coming release. While Jon Mc­Phail and his Family Band is a small family for this tour, Jon has put together a live show that highlights his toe tapping alt folk - am radio sound. Jon’s tongue-in-cheek, off-the-cuff lyrical styling is joyfully spontaneous and will trap you in its infectious beat.
Feed The Birds’ indie pop songwriting leans on folk traditions and while kicking out a rock and roll swagger. Her lyrical fragility combined with rhythmic sense; creates a dy­na­mic performance which transitions beautifully in all settings.

Feed The Birds and Jon’s live performances find a common thread in their Midwest farm machinery rhythms.

One day in 1995 Chris was digging through his moms many tapes and came across a “95 dance mix” album where one of the tracks happend to be Shy FX and UK Apache’s “Original Nuttah” he was dumfounded at this new sound he had never heard before and wanted more right now.

Not knowing where to find said sound he waited three long years till ‘98 when he heard a live recording of Jumping Jack Frost and Mc Dynamite rekindeling his intrest in the music and viciously hunting down any tape he could find. Slowly he built his collection and formed a crew with other Djs know as S.P.D.M. until he finally played out for the first time in 2003.

This Grand Poobah of Stunt Shows unrolls the 1920’s glory of circus with an intense mix of traditional routines and modern performances like the beautiful Serana Rose the Electric Girl, Neon Swallowing, Glass Eating, the Tattooed Puzzle Man from the X-files ‘The Enigma’, the Hot and Sexy Fire Eater, Neon Swallowing, Running Chainsaws while Blindfolded, Spikes Hammered into the Head, beatings with blades, Pin-filled Pincushions, and much, much more.
