Daniel formed his first band at the age of fifteen, the punk rock outfit called The Dropouts. Daniel developed a loyal regional following, selling out wherever they performed. Their innovative hybrid sound draws inspiration from Sublime, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson and Pearl Jam among others. Daniel Wesley recorded the full-length album Sing & Dance in June of 2007. CFOX radio declared them a Top-5 CFOX Seeds Winner in July and proceeded to debut the first single “Ooo Ohh” in September. “Ooo Ohh” became CFOX’s most requested song of 2007.

Born in Halifax, raised on Planet Rock, Skratch Bastid has been a hip hop junkie since before he became a teen. Quickly realizing the role of the rapper wasn’t his forte, he applied his obsessive musical interest to DJing, which moved naturally from cassette mixtapes in his basement to performing on stage with groups and competing in DJ battles before finding his niche playing parties, clubs and festivals. An addicted record collector inspired by many styles of music, Skratch moves quickly between genres and smoothly between tempos, while keeping things quintessentially funky. Yes, quintessentially. Technically apt, but soulfully grounded. His Get Up! mix was heralded as one of last year’s best Mix CDs by TurntableLab, spinning hip-hop, funk, disco and rock into a quilt of awesome. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Kyprios, known by many from Sweatshop Union, delivers a seamless blend of rapping, singing and harmonizing, the North Vancouver, bc native’s larynx is a potent stash of varied lyrical weapons.

Scratch is the Grammy Award winning virtuoso vocal percussionist of the mighty Roots crew. His incredible range and talent at creating and recreating beats both classic and original has made him a legend in the hip hop world.

Five Alarm Funk is a Vancouver-based, 12-piece rhythm machine that pounds out a delirium-inducing live show, brimming with original funk and afro-beat grooves. The band’s horn and percussion-driven instrumental jams feature searing guitar leads and horn solos wailing and soaring above a four-man percussion maelstrom that is grounded by Neil Towers’ juicy bass lines. The band’s wicked cross-rhythms and frenetic, costumed stage show appeals to jazz fans and clubs kids alike. Five Alarm Funk has carved out a word-of-mouth fan base from a series of crowd-pleasing performances at clubs, concert halls, and festivals throughout B.C. Interaction between the crowd and the band is a huge part of the show, and they try to make every show an event.

Kim’s style is explosive, with intricate fingerpicking, percussive beats on the body of the guitar, and two-handed tapping intertwined with an earthy stomp box, powerful harmonica melodies and soulful voice. His songwriting reflects his coastal lifestyle - growing up on the East Coast of Australia, with the surf at his front door - and his new nomadic life on the road. Kim Churchill is a live spectacle and a true virtuoso but unlike so many others who could be labelled as such, he transmits a vibe of genuine modesty. Perhaps his other love, surfing, keeps him grounded. Though his playing is often complex, his songs have an easy, natural flow that certainly reflect the peace of mind that rolling waves and a rising sun possess.
