August. Fogbanks, blackberries, meteor showers and, to top it all off, a total eclipse of the Moon! The Perseid Meteor Shower reaches peak performance on the weekend of the 12th, with the dark of the New Moon providing a perfect backdrop for the show. The August Full Moon rising two weeks later, on the 28th, features a Hermit, or total lunar eclipse, which will be visible in Western North America between 3 and 4:30 a.m., culminating in a spectacular moonset at dawn... a marvellous date for a moondance!
