Tofino artist Sara Young

Sara was born in Vancouver in the not so distant past. As a child she was always drawing and being creative. This might have be inspired by her father who paints, draws and carves. He was really into the outdoors and used to take Sara and her brother hiking in the mountains every weekend.

It was this connection to nature that really inspired her. Sara had an incredible art teacher throughout high school who helped to nurture this passion. She paints with acrylic mostly but loves to do water colour and sketches with black pens.

Other interests include graffiti art, tattoo art, music and snowboarding, however nothing has motivated her more than being in the surf.

"The ocean is so beautiful and the act of surfing is so majestic It feels like a whole other world out there, a world where my creativity starts running wild."
