Tofino Artist Deanna Lankin

Tofino artist Deanna Lankin was born and raised in the beach community of Grand Bend Ontario. Her father was an artist who made surf design t-shirts and graphics and her grandfather was a classically trained artist. It was being raised in this strong artistic family that gave Deanne her base as an artist.

Deanna continued with this inspiration after high school with some formal training at HP Beal art college in London Ontario. There she became versed in the classical techniques, life drawing and colour theory. After this she opened her first art gallery at the age of 19.

She likes to paint on whatever she can find, broken surf boards, skate boards, canvases and just about anything that paint will stick to. She works mostly in acrylics but has been known to play with water colours and charcoal. Deanna sees her artistic purpose as being there to "capture moments". Much of Deanna's work tends to be portraits and waves but she enjoys landscapes and commission work.

Deanna came to Tofino in 2004 and is presently working out of the studio space behind Beaches Grocery.
