The 19th annual Pacific Rim Summer Festival returns this year to officially launch the beginning of summer on the west coast. Presented by the Pacific Rim Arts Society, the festival returns with an expanded programme that features over forty musicians and dancers from four continents in a series of world and roots music, jazz, classical, First Nations and family concerts. There's sure to be something of every musical taste and interest in this year's celebration of the arts. Tickets available in advance through Wildside Booksellers, 320 Main St., Tofino and Word's End Booksellers, 1576 Imperial Lane, Ucluelet, or at the door prior to concert.

Canada's Joe Trio is not your average piano trio, but that's the point. The classically trained violin-cello-piano threesome have delighted audiences throughout Canada and the US with their unique take on the classics... from Haydn to Shostakovich, new contemporary works, and their own arrangements of popular, jazz and rock tunes.

This violin/guitar/bass/cello quartet was formed when member Cameron Wilson was commissioned to write and record for CBC's IN CONCERT. Cam was joined by Budge, Dave and Finn, and thus was born Van Django

Featuring soaring classical Indian vocalese intertwined with exquisite Hindustani slide guitar, violin, bamboo flutes and vocals the trio is complemented with the ancient classical dance forms of Bharata Natyam performed by Anusha Fernando.

Hailing from Havana, Cuba, singer and percussionist Adonis Puentes moved to Canada in 1998. Described as "an artist at the peak of his form", Adonis' compositions, ranging from urban-flavored freestyle to old style boleros, crackle with energy and invention. With a background rooted in Cuban tradition, Adonis' musical vision is giving new life to real Cuban music in the 21st century.
