The 19th annual Pacific Rim Summer Festival returns this year to officially launch the beginning of summer on the west coast. Presented by the Pacific Rim Arts Society, the festival returns with an expanded programme that features over forty musicians and dancers from four continents in a series of world and roots music, jazz, classical, First Nations and family concerts. There’s sure to be something of every musical taste and interest in this year’s celebration of the arts. Tickets available in advance through Wildside Booksellers, 320 Main St., Tofino and Word’s End Booksellers, 1576 Imperial Lane, Ucluelet, or at the door prior to concert.

Tillers Folly

Tickets: $10 adults,
$5 ages 6-16, free under 6

This Vancouver quartet has won a legion of fans with their unique blend of Celtic/folk/ bluegrass woven into songs of the northwest coast.


The Orchid Ensemble

Clayoquot Community Theatre
Sunday, July 3 8:30pm
Tickets: $15 adults,
$7 ages under 12

The Orchid Ensemble and Tandava, Music of the silk road in the hands of two of the most exciting groups on Vancouver’s burgeoning world music scene.


Sara Marreios

Clayoquot Community Theatre
Wednesday, July 6 8:30pm
Tickets: $12

Influenced by her roots, Sara and her quartet perform a lively mix of Portuguese fado, lilting Brazilian tunes, and highly polished jazz gems.


H’Sao

Ucluelet Seconday Band Room

Originally from Chad, Africa, H’Sao embodies a blend of cultures and influences with a magnetic appeal combining gospel, soul, jazz, R&B, and inspirational dance for the whole family.

Performing The Spirit of the Masks, this First Nations dance troupe presents a narrated demonstration of traditional songs and dances from the Kwakwaka’wakw peoples of the West Coast.


Serenade on Strings

Saint Columba Church, Tofino

Tickets: $12

An evening of Handel, Mozart, Beethoven and Martinu in the hands of two talented classical artists: Müge Büyükçelen (violin) and Guyonne Le Louarn (viola) in the heritage setting of St. Columba Church.


I Tromboni

The “Team Canada” of trombones includes baroque, classical, jazz, romantic, and popular music in their performance and presents it with a humorous twist! Bring the whole family.


Mike Allen Trio

An accomplished jazz musician who has studied Coltrane in depth and forged a style that is fresh and vital, saxophonist Mike Allen brings his trio to the festival.


Tango Paradiso

Ucluelet Secondary Band Room

$7 children under 12

Complete with the flamboyant choreography of dancer Carlos Loyola and partner, Tango Paradiso offers a fresh look at the tango in a show that is both authentic and exciting.
