Favourite event of 2009

There was no big surprise that the event that affected us the most in 2009 was the O’Neill Coldwater Classic and of course Peter Devries big win. What an amazing week that was and how proud we still are of such a great performance. The next on our minds was Whale Festival as an event of mention.

Favourite activity done while skipping work

Doesn’t come as a big shock and surprise that our favourite thing to do while skipping work is heading out for a surf.
I guess that’s because it’s usually the fact that the surf is “going off” that inspires such an act of rebellion. The next best thing is simply to chill out at home and get some sleep.

Favourite spot to watch the sunset

For a memorable sunset most of us head out to Chesterman Beach to watch the sun go down or be offshore in a boat.

Favourite escape

For a little Non-Tofino Time we take off in all sorts of directions. The two most popular were down to Victoria for a little urban refreshment or the complete opposite a quick trip down to good old Mexico.

Favourite place to be at 4:20

As far as where you like to smoke one you either head to the beach or get somewhere comfy like the couch or bed.

Favourite spot for people watching

Our favourite places to sit back and watch the people show go by is at First & Campbell, the Common Loaf and Chesterman Beach.

Favourite sporting activity

Once again another testament to how much of a surfing community we have become our favourite activity was catching some waves with getting out for a walk, run or hike as our second choice.

Favourite place to relax

When it comes to unwinding we either head to the beach
or shut the door at home for a little down time.

Favourite spa experience

The Ancient Cedar Spa at the Wickaninnish Inn was your favourite place for some spa goodness with Sacred Stone as your close second choice.

Favourite place to get in the water

When it came time for a dip you tended to head to Chesterman Beach or up the coast for some hot sulphur soaking at Hot Springs Cove.

Favourite place for coffee

For those of who wake up in the morning with one thing on our mind coffffeeee! our favourite spots to head for were the Tofitian and the Common Loaf Bake Shop.

Favourite place for breakfast

The locals choice for a bite to eat in the morning is either the Schooner or Caffé Vincente with the Common Loaf as their runner up.

Favourite place for lunch

Well the reigning champs of the Tofino lunch spot have once again prevailed. Sobo is most definitely your choice to grab a mid day bite with the Wildside Grill as the runner up.

Favourite place for dinner

For a special night out for dinner we had a tie between the Spotted Bear Bistro and Sobo as your first choice. The next in line was the Schooner.

Favourite place for dessert

To satisfy a sweet tooth, Tofino heads to Sobo for some of Jennifer’s finest creations. The next best things is a treat from Sweet T’s.

Favourite place for a drink

Parched and look’n to sit down for a cocktail? Well Tofino’s two favourites are Shelter Restaurant and the Dockside Pub at the Weigh West.

Favourite wine list

For a fine selection of wines Tofino’s first choice was The Pointe Restaurant at the Wick and then Shelter Restaurant.

Favourite place for food on the go

For a quick snack on the run, The Wildside Grill was the top choice with Sobo coming in a close second.

Favourite accommodation

When asked where to stay in Tofino our top recommendation is Pacific Sands with
Middle Beach Lodge and Long Beach Lodge as your next recommendations.

Favourite charter company

For some adventure on the water your company of choice was Ocean Outfitters with Remote Passages as a close second.

Favourite surf company

To keep the surf vibe alive we turn to Storm as our number 1 source and Surf Sister as a second choice.

Favourite gallery

For a little art therapy many of us head over to Roy Henry Vickers gorgeous Eagle Aerie Gallery and then The Reflecting Spirit Gallery for a little more.

Favourite boutique

When it comes to hitting the streets to do some serious shopping our first choice was a tie between the Studio House and Habit. The next most likely spot to see the lovely ladies trying things on is Covet.

Favourite new business 2009

Congratulations to all the new business of 2009. Your favourite new business of the year was The Alternative Climbing gym with the Spotted Bear Bistro as a close second.
